Christianity is not belief that God exists, and not even belief that Christ died for us. Christianity is the life of the Holy Spirit in us (let us remember the words of St. Seraphim of Sarov that the goal of Christian life is the acquisition of the Holy Spirit). "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" (Acts 19:2) — this is the key question addressed to our faith, not to reason and not to feelings. And if we answer "yes," then our attitude toward ourselves and toward other people changes radically.

A temple is the place where God dwells, and since He dwells in me, my body turns out to be a temple. How do I relate to this temple? What happens in it? Does something take place in it that is absolutely incompatible with God's presence? Has it become a "house of prayer" (Matt. 21:13)? Has it been swept clean? Are lamps being lit in it? Is everything in it "decently and in order" (1 Cor. 14:40)?
