Isaiah, Chapter 35,  verses 1-6, 10

1 Zion’s Happy Future
The wilderness and the desert will be glad,
And thea Or desertArabah will rejoice and blossom;
Like the crocus
It will blossom profusely
And rejoice with rejoicing and shout of joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
The majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
They will see the glory of the LORD,
The majesty of our God.
Encourage theb Lit slack handsexhausted, and strengthen thec Lit tottering kneesfeeble.
Say to those with anxious heart,
“Take courage, fear not.
Behold, your God will come with vengeance;
The recompense of God will come,
But He will save you.”
Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
Then the lame will leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.
For waters will break forth in the wilderness
And streams in thed Or desertArabah.

James, Chapter 5,  verses 7-10

7 Exhortation
7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, untild Or heit gets the early and late rains. 8 You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. 9 Do note Lit groancomplain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standingf Lit beforeright at theg Lit doorsdoor. 10 As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

1 John’s Questions, 7 Jesus’ Tribute to John
2 Now when John,c Lit in prisonwhile imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples 3 and said to Him, “Are You thed Lit Coming OneExpected One, or shall we look for someone else?” 4 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: 5 the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THEe Or good newsGOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. 6 And blessed is hef Lit whoeverwho does notg Or stumble over Metake offense at Me.”
7 As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8 h Or Well then,But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings’i Lit housespalaces! 9 j Or Well then,But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet. 10 This is the one about whom itk Lit has been writtenis written,‘BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGERl Lit before your faceAHEAD OF YOU,
WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.’
11 Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who ism Or lessleast in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
