To acknowledge in oneself "knowledge in part" and "seeing through a dim glass" is an exercise for every day. However clear obvious things may appear to us, we cannot tell ourselves that we have reached perfect knowledge, understood the design in its fullness, and realized where the meaning lies. Time, as one of the component parts of our existence, introduces its corrections into everything. What yesterday appeared to us as a point will today become a line, but tomorrow will already turn out to be a flat figure. After some more time it will turn out to be only a shadow; then we will see volume, form, and color; then we will realize that the object moves and changes. Thus we come to know the world and what lives in it. In the same way the Lord gradually reveals Himself to us as well. However complete and finished the knowledge opened to us today may appear, it is only a pale shadow of what we will know, not even when the glass becomes clean, but when the window is thrown open and we see the One who called us into His marvelous Light, the One who is above all knowledge, because He is Truth.
