Many are said in the Bible about anger, and about hatred. At first sight it may seem that it is about things if not the same, then, at least similar such that the words "anger" and "hatred", can be used as synonyms. But all the same, as seen, it is not so. Indeed, the hatred to a man, according to the words of the biblical writer, appears when he deliberately hurts. But here is, the hot-tempered man can during fits of anger (and according to the sense corresponding to the Hebrew words, it is in particular about a fit of anger connected with impatience) commit an unwise act, of which afterward he will eventually regret, but he does not provoke as seen the hatred (in any case, the author of the aphorism says nothing on it). And the problem is not probably here in the fact that in case of fit of anger there is only an insignificant episode before us: Impatient people are inclined to such fits, and they can repeat themselves to them regularly for a variety of reasons. The problem is probably somewhere else, namely, in the spiritual depth of what takes place. Outwardly, at the psychic level, the manifestations of anger (particularly to emotional people) and the hatred can sometimes be similar (although a man little inclined to emotions, can not show his hatred directly). But the one who voluntarily does evil, apparently decided for himself that he has the right for this evil, or again justified somehow his act. Be that as it may, it is especially about the choice, about the conscious intention, and thus, about a properly spiritual sphere. It is not surprising that except hatred, such a behavior provokes nothing: indeed, the hatred means after all the rejection of man and the repulsion from him, unwillingness to communicate and the desire to exclude a person from one’s life. Somebody doing evil voluntarily can provoke nothing else in this world to somebody else: only the one who has already joined the Kingdom and lives the life of the Kingdom can wish good to such a person. And here is, the fit of anger provoked by impatience, is not so difficult to forgive, especially since the one who is angry is certainly going to regret of his act: because there is no conscious intention here, such fits darken of course the spiritual life, but do not distort in a irreversible way, as distorts it the evil consciously committed. That is why we do not give generally spiritual foundations to an answer of hatred to such anger. |
