The aphoristic statements of Jesus are often so glaring, that something which we considered already totally known clears up for us. The matter is surely because we look from a human point of view, Jesus as for Him looks from a point of view of the Heavenly Father.

It is such this case: people always considered death almost as the main event of life, they were afraid of this event, tried to understand thus what takes place… Yeah, even today Christians continue seriously to dispute if we could pray for the deaths, if repentance beyond the grave was possible etc., giving thereby a certain immense, almost fatal meaning to death.

But Jesus puts everything in place with a single sentence. All this from God's point of view (which is the unique reliable point of view) is our vanity, because there are no deaths for God, for all live unto Him. That is, our physical death changes nothing in the most important - in our relationships with God. And how and what takes place thus (death) is secondary.
