The soul seeks the beloved, but he has not yet been found, and many obstacles of which she had no suspicion when she set out appear along the way. Yet the journey continues despite everything, and therefore the search proves successful.
The appeal to the watchmen goes unanswered. Those appointed to do something by virtue of their office are not always ready to help in the most important search and may even hinder it. The watchmen mentioned here are a distant shadow of the Pharisees, who care about order but block the road to God. To meet Him, it is sometimes necessary to leave such watchmen behind.
Then the soul, having found her beloved, clings to him and has no intention of letting go. It is very important to feel ourselves in God's hands and to stand before Him constantly. But while remembering that He holds us, we ourselves must also hold fast to Him with all our strength, loving Him “with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength” (Mark 6:30).
