Uncleanness and holiness are two notions still opposing one another in the Law of Moses. Holy -it is what is dedicated to God, in which there is no spot and defect, what does not belong any more to this world, even if still in it.

Unclean is what God declared unfit to bring to Him, what cannot appear before God's face. If God created us, in order for us to live with Him in the plenitude of the eternal life, it thus means that we are called to holiness, and not to uncleanness. All are called and not just particular men of outstanding personalities. But we all die and this means, that we are unclean. We are then stained of what? Of sin! Sin is always unclean, that is why we are so much in need of absolution from sins.

When we bring our repentance to God, that is the understanding of the necessity of our absolution, He cleanses us with His remission, and we can then approach Him. Moreover, it is not yet holiness; holiness is more than cleanness, because we must be dedicated to God again, become belonging to Him. Receiving us, God puts His seal - the gift of the Holy Ghost, raising us up unto righteousness and love – unto holiness.
