Nova Vulgata (lat)

Liber Iob, Caput 42,  versae 1-3, 5-6, 12-16

1 Respondens autem Iob Domino dixit:
2 “ Scio quia omnia potes,
et nulla te latet cogitatio.
3 Quis est iste, qui celat consilium
absque scientia?
Ideo insipienter locutus sum
et mirabilia, quae excederent scientiam meam.

...
5 Auditu auris audivi te;
nunc autem oculus meus videt te.
6 Idcirco ipse me reprehendo
et ago paenitentiam in favilla et cinere ”.

...
13 Et fuerunt ei septem filii et tres filiae;

42  Job throughly humbles himself before God, Iob 42:1-6.
God reproves his friends, for whom Job intercedes, and God accepts them, Iob 42:7-9.
God blesses and restores Job to his prosperity, Iob 42:10-15.
His age and death, Iob 42:16.

42:2 Thou canst, etc - Job here subscribes to God's unlimited power, knowledge and dominion, to prove which was the scope of God's discourse out of the whirlwind. And his judgment being convinced of these, his conscience also was convinced, of his own folly in speaking so irreverently concerning him. No thought can be withholden from thee - No thought of ours can be withholden from thy knowledge. And there is no thought of thine, which thou canst be hindered from bringing into execution.

42:3 Who - What am I that I should be guilty of such madness! Therefore - Because my mind was without knowledge. Knew not - I have spoken foolishly and unadvisedly of all things far above my reach.

Evangelium secundum Lucam, Caput 10,  versae 17-24

10

10:18 I beheld Satan - That is, when ye went forth, I saw the kingdom of Satan, which was highly exalted, swiftly and suddenly cast down.

10:19 I give you power - That is, I continue it to you: and nothing shall hurt you - Neither the power, nor the subtilty of Satan.

10:20 Rejoice not so much that the devils are subject to you, as that your names are written in heaven - Reader, so is thine, if thou art a true, believer. God grant it may never be blotted out!

10:21 Lord of heaven and earth - In both of which thy kingdom stands, and that of Satan is destroyed. That thou hast hid these things - He rejoiced not in the destruction of the wise and prudent, butin the display of the riches of God's grace to others, in such a manner as reserves to Him the entire glory of our salvation, and hides pride from man. Matthaeum 11:25.

10:22 Who the Son is - Essentially one with the Father: who the Father is - How great, how wise, how good!

10:23  Matthaeum 13:16.
