Interesting, and the same time at first sight paradoxical situation: " We are foreigners and sojourners on earth" - says the one, whom for the consolidation of the people on the earth that was given to him by God, came to do, perhaps, more that anyone, the winner of the Philistines, the real founder of the Jewish government, the great religious reformer - in one word, king David, about whom we could speak infinitely, although there is no special necessity in it: one will hardly find in the world a person today, who did not hear of him.
But, being a remarkable ruler, a great warrior and a great reformer, David remained all the same first of all a prophet, a man of God. And, probably, as every genuine prophet, it is not that he did not indeed understand- he felt rather perfectly the spiritual and, so to speak, the metaphysical ease of human deeds, plans and creations.
Not that what he did was useless or ease; not at all, he indeed did so many useful things, including as ruler, which very few did before and after him. But he apparently felt only what feels somebody who really knows God and feels His presence in his life: the more what a man has done is important from the point of view of our world, the more it is easy and light in the eyes of God. What is more important in our opinion in our life and our history is in God’s sight light than downs: they disappear in the slightest breath, whether it is the breath of nature or of history.
And what seems to us secondary and not at all important, takes root in the eternity of God and stays there. And David, as prophet, as man of God, understands that perfectly. He knows who he is, what he does and whose will he executes. He does not make a mistake either on his account, or at the account of his successes. And he becomes a great ruler, who established a government for the people of God.
