Once again, the bridegroom emphasizes that his bride is the only one, and he rejoices in singing her praises again and again. Those who love one another have not yet been united; they still look at one another from afar, but their mutual attraction already binds them inseparably: they belong to each other and to no one else.
But if the soul chosen by the bridegroom is the only one, does this mean that all other souls are rejected?
No, if the chosen souls are the souls of all who aspire toward God. Each one of us is precious to Him in a special way; as someone has said, “He loves each one more than all the rest.” His relationship with each one of us is unique.
