King James Version (en)

Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 28,  verses 23-24

17 He declareth to the Jews the cause of his coming, 24 After his preaching some were persuaded, and some believed not
23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

28:23 To whom he expounded, testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus - These were his two grand topics,

  1. That the kingdom of the Messiah was of a spiritual, nottemporal nature:
  2. That Jesus of Nazareth was the very personforetold, as the Lord of that kingdom.
On this head he had asmuch need to persuade as to convince, their will making as strong a resistance as their understanding.

28:24 And some believed the things that were spoken - With the heart, as well as understanding.
