Dear friends!
Reading the Bible can raise many questions, and it is not always easy to find answers on your own. We publish answers to frequently asked questions, so the question you want to ask may already have been answered here.
The Blessed Virgin had an only Son. Why does the Holy Apostle Luke call Him the Firstborn?
The only Son of the Most Holy Mother of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, was evidently Her first (and only) child. "Firstborn" is not merely a genealogical term, but also a legal concept in ancient law, and in some cases (including in Israel), a religious one as well. For example, the thanksgiving sacrifices offered to God for a firstborn and for subsequent children were different… The Evangelist Luke emphasizes precisely the religious and legal status of Christ as the Firstborn.
If you do not find an answer to your question in these materials - write us, we will try to look for answers together.
We would like you to keep in mind the fact that the number of questions far exceeds our capability to answer them fast. We apologize in advance for a possible delay. Thank you for understanding.
