Who sinned first? If we look at the Book of Genesis, Adam was the first to sin, because: God created Adam, told him that he must not eat the fruit, and then He created Eve. When God cursed the serpent and Eve, He said to Adam that he had not listened to what God said: "I commanded you"; again, God says "commanded you." When He drove them from the garden, did He place the emphasis on Adam? Who sinned first?
The Book of Genesis speaks of the first human beings as a family, and in a family, the man always bears the responsibility. The Fall was a shared act of both, but it becomes irreversible (and entails responsibility for both) after it is shared by Adam. Furthermore, it is fundamentally important that the Bible speaks of mankind in general—in the original text, Adam is not a proper name, but a term that translates as "man". Therefore, first and foremost, believers apply this narrative to themselves, rather than to some distant ancestor.
