I once asked you whether resurrected people will also have a physical form on the Day of Judgment, and I thank you for your answer. However, I do not quite understand this point: where will the souls of the dead be until the Day of Judgment? Does the soul not go to God after physical death? If this is so, then does it mean that souls will simply wait there for the last (judgment) day until they acquire their former material form (body)? Do I understand this issue correctly?

It is unlikely that the word "where" is appropriate in the question "where will the souls of the dead be until the Day of Judgment?" Most likely, such a framing of the question is incorrect. Everything that occurs beyond the bounds of time, that is, in eternity or, as we say, "with God," cannot be described in terms of time and space, and we do not know how to think otherwise. Evidently, as a consequence of this, the notion arose that the souls of the dead will be "stored" somewhere until the Day of Judgment. This concept is characteristic of antiquity and, in part, of the Old Testament. It was introduced into Christianity approximately at the end of the 2nd to the 3rd century.

Eternity, by all accounts, is not an infinite duration of time, but rather timelessness and all times at once. Thus, yesterday, today, and tomorrow in eternity are always today. Perhaps it could be said that for the departed, the Day of Judgment has already arrived, and the problem of their souls dwelling somewhere during the time while we are still alive here, therefore, does not exist.
