For Christians, as for Jews, there is a commandment concerning the seventh day dedicated to God (“Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God”, Exo 20:9-10). This is one of the most important commandments, being part of the Ten Commandments; the only difference in Christian practice is that the day dedicated to God became the first day of the week, not the last.

However, it is important to note that for Christians, it is impossible to divide our works into “our own” and God's. Strictly speaking, if any work does not align with the will of Christ for a person and He does not partake in it, then there is no reason to do such work. This is why Christians pray for the provision of their daily bread, because for them everything—both their livelihood and all other endeavors—has meaning only in the presence of God. Sunday, therefore, is a day that we dedicate to prayer, encountering God in the church gathering, resting, and whatever the Lord may call us to do on this day.

In fact, since ancient times, Sunday was the only day for Christians that could be set apart for prayer and for spiritual, emotional, and physical rest; during the rest of the week, it is customary to labor for the benefit of one's neighbor. The division between “one's own” works and those “dedicated to God” is, in this sense, quite conditional.
