The Nicene Creed says: "I believe in one God, the Father...", then "in one Lord Jesus Christ", then "in one... Church"... Where it speaks of the Church, it is understandable - it is one, even though it consists of many people. But what about where it speaks of one God the Father and one Lord Jesus Christ? They themselves are hypostases of the Triune God... What is the meaning of the word "one" in relation to them? Or is it simply the Slavonic variant of the word "one"? Then it is also unclear - "in a single God the Father... and in a single Lord Jesus Christ"?

All the instances you cited of the use of the word "one" in the Slavonic Creed correspond to various forms of the word eis in the Greek text. This word means "one" with an emphasis on uniqueness. Thus, we believe in the one and only God, in the one and only Lord Jesus Christ, in the one and only Church. In the first two cases, it was important for the Nicene Fathers to emphasize the unity of the Triune God, as opposed to the opinions of people who considered the Father, the Son, and the Spirit to be three different gods. The three Persons of the Trinity, therefore, in an incomprehensible and difficult-to-express, paradoxical way are One – not simply united, i.e., "combined", but specifically One – God. In addition, it was important for the authors of our Creed to emphasize that Jesus Christ alone is our Lord and Savior, as He Himself said: "no one comes to the Father except through Me."
