NOTES for Hos 10:1-15

In denouncing the people’s sin, their “divided heart,” Hosea prophesies the coming Assyrian captivity (almost a century before this prophecy was fulfilled!). Living not according to the spirit but according to the flesh (see the MAIN NEWS) inevitably means condemnation, a severe verdict at God’s judgment—God will withdraw His protection, and Israel will be left defenseless and put to shame. How often in our own lives the most dreadful punishment is simply that “everything takes its normal course,” according to the laws of this world, according to the “law of sin and death”!
