NOTES for Eph 2:19

The apostle Paul writes these words to a church consisting mainly of former pagans, that is, of those who even in the religious moments of their life addressed not the One God, but many different gods, seeking to extract benefit for themselves, putting themselves and their interests above the divine will. All this inevitably alienated them from the God whom Israel honored, and in relation to Israel and its God they were strangers, foreigners, ungodly people.

Their turning to Christ radically changes the situation: being united by faith with the One who as Son of Man belongs to the people of Israel and as Son of God is fully a partaker of the life of the One God, they cease to be foreigners alien to Israel, on the one hand, and on the other hand they acquire the most important attribute of holiness - belonging to God.

Do we understand that the same changes enter our life when the Good News overtakes us and we respond to it with our heart?
