NOTES for Co2 4:7-15
The Epistle to the Corinthians speaks not merely of the dangers of the Christian way but of suffering and death, without any obvious reward. For the only motive turns out to be “so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh,” while “the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” How far this is from our usual ideas about a person’s calling, about fulfillment in this life, and finally about glory.
