NOTES for Mar 4:26-34

These words about the Kingdom contain great hope and comfort for us. A kingdom, after all, is the King’s domain: His territory and His subjects, to put it in more earthly terms. The Church is the Kingdom, and we Christians are its subjects, those who have received Him into our hearts and acknowledge Him as our King.

Our hope lies in the fact that it is enough to receive God and acknowledge Him as King for the mustard seed to take root in our heart. It only needs room to grow, and whether it can grow into a great tree depends on us. The more of our life we give to God and the more fully we belong to the King, the farther His domain will extend and the more the tree of the Kingdom will grow. And if we share our joy, faith, hope, and love with others, we will allow the tree to bear fruit and the Kingdom of God to spread farther across the earth.
