NOTES for Luk 21:34-36
The Lord says strange things. He describes everything that will happen before His appearance in Glory and gives us this advice: “Keep watch at all times and pray that you may be found worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man.” In other words, something terrible will be happening all around, apparently close to what the prophet Daniel saw (Dan 7:1-27). Meanwhile, the principal task of one who believes in Jesus is to keep watch and pray in order to escape all this. Not to live through it with eyes closed, not to turn away, but to pass through that time looking at Christ. Apparently, this is the simplest way to stand before Him. It is entirely possible that this is the only way to escape all the horrors considered signs of the Second Coming.
