NOTES for Luk 2:1-14

Today is a day that a human being cannot comprehend. Not only because the very fact of the Nativity, the way it all happens, is completely absurd from a human point of view. Today is a day when a person has a real opportunity to understand how God loves. His love for each person is at once a father’s love for his child and a small child’s love for his parents. Strictness, responsibility, care, and self-sacrifice are fused with tenderness, complete trust, and the need to remain constantly close: this is what His Love looks like. He wants us to hold Him in our arms and not let Him go, and in this way He will give us everything, protect us, and give us peace. He gives Himself to us, and just as a child smiles at any mother, so He loves us as we are. By entrusting His life to us for safekeeping, He simply places in us a trust such as no one else ever will.
