NOTES for Luk 16:10-15

Christ's words about the impossibility of serving two masters are one of the most vivid images of the choice a person makes when becoming a Christian. This choice allows no compromises and no conditions. And this choice must be made. It is absurd to make claims against God if you have not made this choice or have preferred to serve your own prosperity. It is your decision, only your own. This is an amazing good for us, and at the same time a terrible truth. We so want to lay responsibility for our dead condition on God. But it is your own choice, which no one, not even God, will make for you. And all the more astonishing is the mercy of the Son of God, who dies for us all, regardless of anything, "while we were still sinners," as the apostle Paul says.
