NOTES for Co2 13:11-14
What does it mean, will be with you? Is God not always with us? Here is an ordinary everyday analogy: a man comes home from work, his wife moves around him, and he sits with a detached look because he is tired or because work-related thoughts will not let him go. His wife is with him, but he is not with her. So it is here: God is always ready to be with us, and not because it is always pleasant for Him, but we are not with Him when we are absorbed only in our cares and problems. So the apostle Paul lists some of our states that accompany our attention to God's presence. These states are always positive, rejoice and be at peace; dynamic, be perfected and be comforted; not closed in on themselves but open to others, be of one mind. This is true life, is it not? Life in the presence of the God of love and peace.
