NOTES for Rom 5:17

Two parallel chains, but directed oppositely: Adam, transgression, the reign of death; Jesus Christ, righteousness, the reign of life. The fall introduces distortion into human nature, making the human being a slave to sin, incapable of genuine righteousness and deprived of eternal life. Redeemed by Christ's death, we receive the freedom to accept righteousness as a gift from God and enter the kingdom of life, where the Risen One, the Victor over death, reigns.
