NOTES for Ti2 1:13

The epistles of Apostle Paul to Timothy by their tone remind a will. The apostle transmits to the disciple his service and gives him the most necessary instructions. That is why the repeated mention of "sound" or "good" teaching by him (see Tim. 4:6,16; 6 3; 2Tim. 3 14, 4 3) deserve a special attention as a counter to "fairy fables " and "vain babblings". It shows that at the time of the first apostles, false teachings, mythologizing, and disputes on the minor destroying love penetrated already into the Church. Paul calls Timothy to hold fast the bases of Christian life - the initial apostolic tradition, faith in Jesus Christ and the love of God and people granted by Him. So faithfulness to the Gospel will protect against the false teachings; the faith in the Son of Man will stop mythopoeism; and love will not allow differences of opinion to overgrow into disputes and splits.
