NOTES for Act 2:24
Being filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of the Pentecost, Peter pronounces the very first sermon in the new alliance Church - sermon, in which the Good News will sound for "external" people for the first time, and this News is about the Resurrection of Christ. This exceptional event is unique in the history of humanity, and the Church will look during several years for an adequate verbal description for it. We see through these Peter's words the first attempt to express the paradox: on one hand, Jesus Himself appears to be conqueror of death, because it can't retain Him. On the other hand, only a living being can animate a dead man, and if no one else participated in it, it is then the Living God who resuscitated Christ. This paradox is solved in another paradox, which afterwards will form the Church, - that of Christ the God-man.
