NOTES for Ch2 29:1-36

The Bible contains many thorough descriptions of the Temple's arrangement and the details of worship. Here again, through an ancient “report” of how King Hezekiah opened the doors of the house of the Lord and restored prayerful worship within its walls, we can touch the joy experienced by all the faithful who had languished under the yoke of paganism. We know this joy, for not so long ago we ourselves entered with the same joy churches where worship was resumed after decades of “repurposing”!

But while rejoicing with every right to do so, let us not forget that our churches are taken from us because of our sins, so this can happen again if we are unfaithful once more. The chief culprits in the desolation of churches will not be the persecutors, but those among us who are ready to bring sin beneath their vaults.
