NOTES for Luk 22:70-71

Everything was developing well. The court was prepared, and the sentence -ready... In fact, everything was already clear to everyone: the earth isn't a place for this Son of man. So a good accusation was chosen (it is as Al Capone who for tax evasion was put in prison), witnesses were found, but nothing works out, the accusation doesn't hold on, everything succeeds somehow uncomfortably. There, they play then their “everything”: "are thou Son of God?" Either He will break down and will abdicate, or He will say "yes", and we shall declare it of blasphemy. The answer of Jesus enraptures. On one side it is a polite form of an affirmative answer, and on the other side - as usual, He returns the question to the questioner: "think yourself and make the good decision ". What the "judges" say shows that they heard, but it has no effect on the decision taken beforehand. It is interesting that when our "non-believers" doubt about who is Jesus, they call Him nevertheless Christ, which is the Lord's Anointed. He thus answers them whatever inaudibly: "ye say that I am"; and leaves them the freedom of the decision-making.
