NOTES for Th2 2:1-12
What is the “day of Christ”? It is the day of the Lord's own coming. Is that a good thing? And can we, who believe in Him and love Him, doubt that His coming is good? It turns out that we can... The Christians in the Thessalonian community, having heard that the Lord's coming was near, became troubled. Paul reassures them by saying that the rumors are false... Yet how many other passages of Holy Scripture tell us that we should await His coming with joy! Of course, no one on earth is given knowledge of the day or hour of Christ's second coming. But if the thought of the end of the world frightens and unsettles us, then something is wrong with our faith.
