NOTES for Luk 12:2

These words of Jesus can be considered as a simple observation of facts: our life is made in such a way that any of our human secrets comes out; somebody just has to need these secrets, for this to happen. It is necessary to remember that, because we very often like hiding what we are ashamed of (even if it is not always the case). However, it is clear that trying to hide something from the Omniscient God is quite stupid.

But, these words of the Lord are telling us of a certain faith, and He invites all of us to have this faith. These words are very important for us, because they allow us to separate Jesus’ call from that complex set of religious demonstrations which is formed in us in result of the junction of Christian dogmatic and the Hellenistic natural religion. If all the plenitude of God is shown to us in Jesus bodily as says Apostle Paul, then there is nothing (and cannot be) hidden in faith. And this gives us the vaccination against the temptation of esotericism, against the division of spiritual life between sacred and profaned.

Further, The Lord speaks to His followers about the fear of death and the fear of God, giving us then the possibility to hope in God's custody. He speaks about confession, in which the main thing is not so much the quantity of the used theological terms, as fidelity to the Son of God, crucify for us. And finally, the Lord speaks about loving the Holy Spirit. It is especially insult against the Holy Spirit that must be very "bitter" and horrible for us, and it is exactly what we need to avoid. So, we shall not be alone in difficult and dangerous situations. In brief, the Lord speaks about faith, which is indeed a deep and intense life. As it is said: "the just shall live by faith".
