NOTES for Eze 13:1-23
The danger of false prophecies still exists; it has not diminished since Ezekiel's time. They may come not only from deliberate deceivers, but also from people who are sincerely mistaken. If someone is determined to hear God's voice, excessive eagerness may lead them to confuse it with the voice of their own subconscious, or even to mistake for it the whispers of opposing powers.
We should therefore not say, “God told me,” lightly or without reflection. Yet the need for caution and spiritual sobriety in the spiritual life is no reason to dismiss outright the possibility that we may still hear Him today. May He Himself lead us in His footsteps, keeping us from yielding to extremes or straying from the path.
