God Himself found a bride for Himself (Jerusalem), saved her from death, nourished her, adorned her, and gave her precious gifts. She responded with ingratitude, unfaithfulness, and deceit. What prompts people to forget God's love and care and turn to the many idols of modern life? Some inner sickness, a dividedness closely connected with the evil of the world, its prince, and our own evil. How can we fight this evil that seizes our souls and leads us away from God?
