NOTES for Rev 12:1-6

In this short text we see the Old Testament Church. Having passed through the pangs of a new birth, she is completely transformed, becoming the New Testament Church that stands before and bows down to the Messiah. She is opposed by the serpent, the dragon who caused the Fall, seduces human beings and leads them astray. From the very moment the Church appears, the dragon tries to deceive her, to destroy her and raze her to the ground. He sets persecutors upon her, trying to sweep from the face of the earth every righteous person who stands in his way. Then, seeking safety, the believers withdraw into desert places, leaving the places from which they are driven in order to preserve a living community far from their persecutors.
