NOTES for Mat 6:25-34

We live as though we sustain our own lives, although we did not even enter life by ourselves. We spend our time in constant anxiety, trying to secure life for ourselves wherever we can. But since we are not eternal beings, we cannot secure eternal life for ourselves. Jesus proposes that we build our lives so as to receive life from the One who is eternal. To do this, we must seek His presence and guidance, that is, His Kingdom. We must also try to “fit into” this Kingdom, to be in harmony with it and do the will of the heavenly King—this is the righteousness, the justice of the Kingdom of God. Once again, as throughout the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus directs our attention not to our affairs and worries, but to our relationship with God, to whom we are so precious that He is ready to take all our cares upon Himself and give us in exchange a life that is full and eternal.
