NOTES for Neh 2:1-8

For Christians, Israel is an eternal example and an eternal reproach. Are we grieved that temples have been destroyed, that the Word is not preached, that people live in confusion and fear like sheep without a shepherd? Are we ready, despite danger and the possible shame and contempt of those around us, to labor for the Kingdom? Feeling weak and insignificant, do we want to ask for help in order to build the temple? Can we ask for help from someone to whom all this is indifferent, who might agree but might also kill us? Nehemiah answers all these questions: “Yes.”
