NOTES for Deu 10:1-22
It turns out that God asks nothing difficult of us. Only reverence and love, only openness and honesty, only faithfulness and gratitude. Does this not seem so easy to you? Yet Christ too says that his yoke is good and his burden light. What, then, is the problem? Why does it seem such an overwhelming task to us? How can we love and open ourselves to God; where is the threshold beyond which the burden of love becomes light? The Gospel’s answer is simple—even simpler than these demands: learn gentleness and humility of heart from Jesus. It is so difficult... and so easy.
