NOTES for Job 39:1-18
Through His questions, the Lord reveals the diversity and grandeur of the world He created, and once again we see how His creative power surpasses every human capacity. Our inability to comprehend the Creator’s wisdom is vividly demonstrated through examples from the natural world around us. At first the Lord draws Job’s attention to inanimate nature; then, apparently following the order of creation, He speaks of the animals He created. The living world is complex and diverse, and although human beings rise above it and even call themselves “kings of nature,” they cannot govern it. People have subdued and domesticated some animals and are capable of learning and understanding much, yet life in its depths remains unfathomable, open only to its Creator.
