NOTES for Job 39:19-30

The warhorse of which the Lord speaks looks like an indestructible monster. Of course, skilled riders have often tamed horses, but this passage is about something entirely different: it was not you, human being, who gave the horse its strength; you are not the source of what you habitually use throughout your life. Human beings are accustomed to taking pride in their many inventions, but everything they have created is based on the use of natural forces and laws created by God. Humanity has made devices that allow people to rise above the earth after the birds, yet birds themselves, created by God, need no technical devices in order to fly.
