NOTES for Ti2 3:16
The inspiration of God of the Holy Scriptures is one of the bases of the Christian faith. And since it is faith, there is no meaning to look for proofs, because in matters of faith there are no proofs which work, but witnesses. And here we read such a testimony in the Bible. Well, can we believe in such a witness, when somebody speaks well of himself?
Such situation was already described in chapter eight of the Gospel according to Saint John (verses 12-18), when Pharisees said to Jesus that, since He is appearing of His own witness, His testimony is not valid. The answer of Jesus overturns all the common presentations: it is not the words pronounced by a person, that make his "quality", but on the contrary, it is the "quality" of the person that gives weight to his testimony.
It is the case here, the level of the validness of the Bible is such that this self-testimony is even no more necessary, and the meaning of this statement of Paul is different. It is necessary to stress the word "all". The Scripture can’t be torn in parts, some which are useful for teaching, others for correction and etc. No, the Scripture is whole, and it is especially this wholeness which corresponds to this inspiration of God for the News, that the Bible carries, and it is particularly this Good News, which doesn’t expand on separate verses - is God's Word.
