NOTES for Jo1 2:2

There are two false images of God: one says that God is a severe supervisor, a judge and a hangman at the same time; another that He is a good grandpa, who observes with smile our "desipiences". It is clear that both are false. God is not indifferent of our sins; He is offended by them and is angry. But He does not wish to be a “hangman”, He doesn’t want to punish us for the sins, He looks for the possibilities to remit us. At the same time sin entails inevitably restitution - death. And God finds the only possible means for our salvation: His Son becomes a victim of the expiation, which is He accepts death, paying for human sins - the sins of all men, which satisfied by righteousness and opens the way for God’s grace. Thus, the possibility of obtaining God’s grace in Christ is suggested to all men, and those who believe in Him, receive it.
