NOTES for Luk 22:29

The secret of Nativity is more often connected with a pleasant festive mood. Generally, the feeling of affection and joy accompanies usually the information about the birth of a child in the family of an acquaintance, who is not too close person; the appearance of the child in our own family is often connected to a painful and not always positive expectation: we don't know authentically how the child spends these nine months in the womb of his mother, is he not sick, is everything normal, how the childbirth will take place, will the doctors not let down. And with the birth of the child our fear and anxiety don't faint, on the contrary they increase every day. Our children compel us everywhere and any time to feel the breath of death.

Christmas celebration leads to the comprehension of such terrible fact: God came into the world to give us the Kingdom - but this Kingdom that He possesses, can be passed on to us only by a covenant. We have refused the possibility of living in the Kingdom, having chosen death and evil, instead of life and good. So He was born, became tiny and without defenseless, having completely and supremely trusted people. He was born in the world - and thus assumes all the burden of death. He wants to admit us into the Kingdom, and He has a single way - to bequeath us what belongs to Him. And we should remember that only the death of the Bequeather will allow us to receive the inheritance.
