NOTES for Luk 16:9-15
We often hear people complain about their work. How can anyone take it seriously, they say; everything is tiresome and routine. If only one could leave it all and do something useful for humanity, something bright and beautiful. But no such occupation is at hand, and until one appears, the only thing to do is sit out and endure a dull and uninteresting job, treating it accordingly. Jesus, however, tells us that He cannot entrust us with a great and important task if we cannot prove ourselves in something small and unimportant to the destiny of humanity. How can people be entrusted to someone who cannot take responsibility for things? Unless we begin to treat each day as a test that reveals whether we are fit to do something great and important, we may spend our entire lives sitting in dreary expectation.
