NOTES for LukĀ 18:1-8
The parable of the unjust judge told to us is a very ingenious move by Jesus. Look closely: is it not a vivid illustration of human notions about how God makes decisions? We, small and weak, scream and cry out, and only because of our persistence does anything happen. This picture is so absurd when we bring a request to the merciful God that one wants to laugh and never do it that way again. Whatever may be happening in our minds, God will never abandon us and will come to our aid. He will come, of course—but will He find faith where people call on Him for help? It may happen that such notions about God replace what we know about Him from Scripture, what we have been taught.
