NOTES for Psa 19
The universe is wonderfully ordered; the very structure of creation speaks of the Lord and of the higher wisdom He reveals. The wisdom disclosed by contemplating the world reflects the higher laws given by the Lord to all creation.
The laws established by God are not oppressive or coercively binding, like many laws created over the centuries by earthly states. No, the psalmist observes that the Lord’s precepts bring joy and are filled with light.
It is precisely the joyful nature of His precepts and the perfection of the Lord’s law that awaken in a person the desire to fulfill them and the longing to be blameless before Him.
