NOTES for Exo 31:1-18
The detailed instructions about what must be made for the construction of the tabernacle would be incomplete without today's reading. God does not simply dump a heap of commands on us; He arranges everything so that we can fulfill them. If extraordinarily intricate pieces of jewelry must be made, garments sewn, and carpentry done, there will be people endowed with the necessary knowledge and talents. This is how the work will be completed. And regardless of every circumstance of life and every human need, God must always remain central in the life of the people. The seventh day, dedicated to God, is a sign of faithfulness to God, a sign that God sanctifies and preserves His people.
