God revealed to the apostle Paul His wondrous plan to adopt the sons of men as His children, and Paul shares it with us. The plan truly is marvelous, for only the miracle of God's love and mercy can clothe each of us with Christ, thus making those who are baptized in faith God's sons and daughters (see Gal 3:26-27). And by thus becoming Christ's, we become the “offspring of Abraham”: heirs, the people of God as understood in the Old Testament. We will never fully grasp this logic, if only because we do not possess as much love as God does. But this is why we are clothed with Christ in Baptism: so that He Himself may be this love within us.
