NOTES for Lev 9:1-24
Without chapters like this one, Leviticus might seem like a dry and tedious collection of ritual regulations, carefully describing what must be done and how, while leaving it entirely unclear why. Today, however, it becomes evident that all the rites, sacrifices, and purifications are merely preparations for what matters most: the manifestation of God’s glory among his people. In our spiritual life it is vitally important to distinguish the means—reading the Bible, prayer, fasting, education, upbringing, and so on—from the goal: meeting God and his Glory, which has dwelt among us for two thousand years.
