As we can see, the priests’ duties include, among other things, diagnosing skin diseases. In fact, as a kind of mediator between God and the people, the Old Testament priest also exercises the divine function of healing. The text makes it clear that this ministry is still far from perfect: the priests do not heal, but only determine when quarantine is required. This gift will be revealed in its fullness when Christ the High Priest comes to earth and passes his healing authority on to his Church. As her members, we too may participate in this gift in some way.
