NOTES for Jer 9:5
How do we speak to people, even to the very close ones? It is surprising, as we pronounce many lies. Well, certainly, not the shameless lie, but - untruth, is not completely truth. And besides not necessarily for nasty or deceptive purposes. Sometimes, in order "to protect" the listener, sometimes to embellish the story or oneself. But we don’t already realize, how light becomes our word, it loses its creative strength, because only truth possesses such a strength. We become used to our own slyness and we take it for standard, that is why we wait for the same thing from others - and now there is no trust between each other, nor to any other word, and goes away gradually the trust to God's Word. Having begun from a little, lie eats away gradually and destroys the bases of our life. How can we stop, how can we "tame" our tongue? It is written in James's epistle that nobody of men can do it (James 3:8). But Jesus has good news for us: "with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26).
